Quality & Compliance

Quality & Compliance

Quality is at the heart of everything we do.  We ensure quality is achieved in order to maintain a caring and safe environment for all our residents.

We are proud to be inspected on a regular basis.  The independent regulator of health and social care in England, the Care Quality Commission, has certified that Fulford Nursing Home is meeting all the national standards for care, staffing and treating people with respect.

Member of the Research Ready Care Home Network

At Fulford Nursing Home we work with the National Institute for Health Research to support the delivery of high quality research so that residents and NHS patients can benefit from improvements in care, support and treatments.

Bradford University Research Project

We are very lucky to have been selected to work with Dr Alan Blighe and his team at Bradford University to work on early intervention in care to improve health, wellbeing and prevent hospital admissions.  As such, all our staff are trained in early recognition of changes and escalating care.

React to Red Skin

React to Red Skin is a pressure ulcer prevention campaign that is committed to educating as many people as possible about the dangers of pressure ulcers and the simple steps that can be take to avoid them.

We are proud that at Fulford Nursing Home all our staff are all trained to identify residents who may be vulnerable to pressure wounds, and how they can be prevented.

Safety Huddles

If you visit the care home and see care staff looking like they are just having a 'chat' they actually are holding a 'Safety Huddle'.

Safety huddles are short multidisciplinary briefings designed to give healthcare staff and non-clinical staff opportunities understand what is going on with each patient and anticipate future risks to improve patient safety and care.   The aim is to create an environment where staff regularly communicate and feel safe to raise concerns about patient safety.

We host a 'huddle' every day and we are currently the only nursing home in York to adopt this approach.

Fire Safety

The Home was inspected in January 2017 by Malcolm Dunford from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.  The inspection found the Home to be fully compliant, with no recommendations.
